I’ve always been a little too interested in old things.

Old houses. Old books. Historic homes and museums. The little details that make you wonder who lived there, what their rooms looked like, and why someone 200 years ago thought that particular pattern was worth putting on a wall, a fabric, or a piece of furniture.

That’s really where The Poet’s Laurel began.

I create surface patterns inspired by historic design—florals, botanicals, architectural details, ornamental motifs, and the wonderfully imperfect ideas found in patterns from the past. I take those influences and rework them into designs that can live in homes today, or even ones that want to recreate the past.

Some are heavily inspired by a particular period or style. Others are simply my interpretation of something I found interesting along the way. Either way, I’m less interested in making a historically perfect reproduction and more interested in capturing the feeling of the original.

I love patterns that make a room feel like it has a story.

The Poet’s Laurel is a place for those patterns—whether they end up on wallpaper, fabric, home goods, or simply somewhere you can enjoy them in your own creative projects.

There’s a lot of beautiful design sitting in the past. I’d like to bring some of it forward.
