About
Where is your favorite place to go? A place you can relax and just escape everyday life? Do you have a place like that?...
For me, it's a place where two worlds meet. Where history and the present merge to make a place of quiet solace and peace. A place where I can sit, dream, escape...
I find that any historical location can become that relaxing place for me. But one in particular is my favorite.
Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
For years, I have dreamed of building a small business based around my historical interests and love of rustic, farmhouse charm. But I never knew how to merge them together.
During a visit to Colonial Williamsburg many years ago, I stumbled across a garden behind a restored home in the village. There was a beautiful vine-line bush flanking the one corner. A garden home guide told me the name of it and the historic and symbolic significance it has grown to have.
The Poet's Laurel bush
An evergreen bush with vine-like stems that was used during Greek times to adorn the heads of winning athletes. It has since become a symbol of achievement, success, and victory. Its evergreen qualities give it the symbolic meaning of strength and resilience.
Growing a small business is extremely difficult. Heck, growing ANY business is extremely difficult. But when it came time to build my brand and name my company, I chose a name that fit the emotions I had during some of those tough times.
Resilience to endure and strength to not give up.
